Gauss liked to eat for dessert.
- (d) When Gauss was a little boy, he added up the first 100
integers and got the number 5005, the only correct answer in his
class.
- (e) None of the above.
The correct answer was e, none of the above. (The sum in
part d) is not correct.)

Part a: We wanted you to modify the triangle so
that its area is 3. Remember that the area of a triangle is one half

Part b: We wanted you to modify the trapezoid so
that its area is 5. Remember that the area of a trapezoid is the base
times the average of the two heights.
